Terms of Service

By accessing or using WriteTheRest (operated by Alex Lougheed (trading as WriteTheRest)), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use WriteTheRest. By using the service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Content tagged as EXPLICIT / NSFW is intended only for users aged 18 or over. You must not post or intentionally view such content if you are under 18.

You sign in using Discord or Google. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your OAuth credentials secure. One natural person per account — do not create multiple accounts to evade limits or manipulate voting.

You retain ownership of content you post (prompts, stories, comments, and similar). By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute your content on WriteTheRest for as long as it remains on the service.

You agree not to post content that:

• Is illegal or promotes illegal activity.
• Harasses, threatens, or abuses others.
• Infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights.
• Contains malware, spam, or deceptive material.
• Violates someone else's privacy.

You are responsible for tagging content with an appropriate content rating (General, Teen, Mature, or Explicit). Misleading ratings may result in removal of content or suspension of your account.

WriteTheRest uses community voting (InkDrops) to surface content. Rankings reflect user votes and are not endorsements by us. You may vote on your own content. We do not guarantee the accuracy or fairness of rankings.

We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe harm the community or the service. We are not obliged to monitor all content but may do so.

WriteTheRest is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. User-generated content is the responsibility of the person who posted it, not Alex Lougheed (trading as WriteTheRest).

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alex Lougheed (trading as WriteTheRest) will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of WriteTheRest. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which, for a free service, may be zero).

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including fraud or death caused by negligence).

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections where you live.

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
